My time at Point England School in Team 5

Kia Orana, I’m Aliyah and today I’m going to be talking about my time at Point England School in Team five.

It started off when the new year had come by, ( 2016 ). Everyone had just gotten back from the christmas holidays, school had started again and everyone had a new year level to start the year with. Last year I started in Team five as a year seven student. I was so nervous to start my year off as a year seven student, it just felt weird. As soon as I entered the door’s to team five I felt amazing but scared. Days had gone by and I had still felt weird. I was getting use to being a year seven when the second term had come along. I started to feel apart of Team five. I got along with the year eight’s and I would always play soccer with them. I would hang out with people that I wouldn’t usually hang out with and it actually seemed alright. It was the last term and all the year sevens and I went to rainbows end. We got split up so that it would be easier for everyone to walk around, instead of being in a big group. The bus arrived and we all hopped on the bus. When we arrived at Rainbows end we waited for a while ( I can’t remember why though ). Once the teachers said that we could hop off the bus we all hopped out, sat down and waited for the Rainbows end lady to come out and give us our bands. When we saw the lady come out she started giving everyone a pink or red band to put on. Once we all had a band we all walked into rainbows end, got into our groups and went off and started having fun. The first ride my group went on was the “ invader ”,  it was pretty scary because that was the first time I had ever been on the invader. Hours went by and it was time to pack up and go back to school. Once we got back the year eight students were doing art work with the teachers that had stayed back to look after the year eights. Days, Weeks and terms went by and the end of the year was finally here. We finished the last day of school early. When we had our last assembly,  we all gave our year eights hugs and goodbyes and then went home. A new year had finally come ( 2017 ). I started off as a year eight student. I was excited because I was finally a leader for the school, I found it pretty normal being in team five, but it felt weird being a year eight because it felt like i was still a year seven. I found term one pretty normal because it felt the same as last year.  Term two came by and camp was finally here!!! I was so excited because I wanted to learn more things about going on camps and also to be with my friends and have fun. We played so much games and did so much activities. On the last day we all had to clean and pack our things because we were heading back to Auckland.  Camp was fun but when we got back I was exhausted. A few weeks after that term two finished and then term three came by. Term three felt like term one, Boring, fun, tiring and more. Moving on to term four. The last term of the year as being a year 8 at Point England School. I am now in week two and it’s going pretty well. I think I’m going to have a great term this term. To me I think Point England school is a pretty good school because the teachers take care of all of the students and its fun here in Point England. The teachers and principal provides so much trips, sports gear, basketball hoops and much more. I appreciate being in team five because if I have problems the teachers are always there to listen to them. So I have come to the end of my writing. I will continue to F.I.O.P ( Finish it off properly )for the remaining of the term. S.T.S ( Strive to succeed ) is our school motto and I intend on making this motto live within my future of learning.

Niue language week

Image result for niuean language week 2017

This week is Niuean language week. Our Niuean students performed for us for the last day of Niuean Language week. This morning teams five's teacher ( Mrs Tele'a ) told us that back in the 1960's,70's and 80's, Glen Innes was mostly full of Niuean, Pakeha and cook Island people. After awhile samoans and other Pacifica and also maori's had come and joined. Having the privilege to speak other languages is like a treasure because not that much people can speak other languages. Some people can only speak one language, but others can speak more than one. Here are some photos from last year's Niuean group from fiafia.

Our Manaiakalani Film Festival Experiment

Most of last week room 5 and I, and some other classes from team 5 were doing our  Manaiakalani Film. My class and I had to bring a change of clothes in to class to start our film, When we were changed we all went down to Omaru Creek and filmed there. My favorite part of the movie was when I was looking in the bush searching for Rapunzel, The thing that I'm going to aim for next time if I'm in a film festival movie is to try and get into more camera actions, My most challenging moment was trying to climb the rocks and getting up after we had finished filming our scene.

Our Maniakalani film will be released at Hoyts on the big theater screen on a Wednesday morning at 10:00 am or 9:30 and our whole school and all the teachers will be attending this trip and we hope to see more interesting and catching movies good luck to all the teams especially TEAM 5!!
