Grass to glass 1

Cows eat 70 kilograms of grass a day, or during wi nter the farmers will make silage for the cows to eat.  When the cows have eaten the grass, the grass turns into milk for people to drink. The amount of grass the cows eat is twice as much as two kids.

Cows have four stomachs, to break down and digest the grass into little pieces that gets burped back up. When the grass gets burped back up the cows eat it again for 1 minute and then they swallow it back down.  After they have eaten the grass it goes down into the cows four stomachs and breaks the grass down into little pieces.

Milking happens twice a day, and can never be missed out or else the cows will get an infection! The cows get milked 7-8 minutes and produce 30 litres of milk a day. The cows are milked in a milking shed that has cups that attach to the cow's teats.

Now days milking machines do all the hard work, which will give the farmers less work to do. The work that farmers have to do is attach the cups on to the cows teats. When the teats are attached then the milk from the cows get pulled out and into a big milk container.
